November is a month that most of us don’t really like: cold, wet, foggy, first snow, thick clothes, the days are shorter, the evenings longer… . This list could be continued almost indefinitely. But what applies to the north and centre of Europe, fortunately does not apply to our favourite island Mallorca.
Even though Mallorca magazine has already informed us of the first snow on the heights of the Tramuntana mountains and the islanders claim that this year the summer will pass directly into winter without autumn. In November we are now enjoying daytime temperatures of up to 20°C and around 6 hours of sunshine per day, on average. – All people who do not have school holidays should now take the opportunity to take the plane to Palma to enjoy the sun and pleasant warmth. Well then: Take advantage of the rather quiet time until Christmas (when things will be getting lively again)! This time discover interesting things in exciting restaurants and with a tasty island wine.
Visit one of the excellent restaurants, preferably in the southwest of Mallorca. We have a very special restaurant tip for you; the Restaurant Urbano in the middle of Port d’Andratx. Here you can enjoy the wonderfully created dishes by Jens&Emmi. The best way to start is with the Tapas-Meter for 2 persons. Let yourself be spoilt by the attentive service, no matter whether it’s ‘just for fun’ or on a very special occasion. With the excellent wine list of the Urbano you can complete your visit to the restaurant with one or the other exciting island wine. There are now around 70 wineries in Mallorca, which produce excellent wines year after year.
In addition to the big names (Macia Batle, Jose Ferrer, etc.), there are always small, fine bodegas that live their very own wine philosophy. This is how we discovered our new Mallorca favourite wine NouNat in Urbano. The dry cuvée of Prensal Blanc and Chardonnay, aged in barrique, steel and cement tanks, is a dream. Delicately fruity with exotic aromas, full-bodied and elegant, the wine is almost an allrounder to many dishes. – The associated winemakers, the Batle brothers from the Binigrau Winery, produce their wines in complete harmony with nature. The small, fine winery is located at the entrance to Biniali. Unfortunately the 2015 NouNat is sold out. The new vintage will only be available from March 2017, Mr Batle let us know during our visit … . It’s a pity, but luckily we discovered a few more bottles in an online shipment. We will enjoy them at home by Christmas at the latest. Then we will certainly remember how beautiful November can be…
